In 2014, the Department for Regional Development launched a pilot scheme to introduce lower parking charges across 25 towns throughout the province.
The scheme introduced a charge of £1 for 5 hours parking in 93 car parks in towns such as Limavady, Coleraine, and Ballymoney, among many more.
With the new super councils now in operation, they have taken responsibility for these charges and as such, the charges have reverted back to their prices from before the scheme was launched.
While the new Derry and Strabane District Council look set to launch a consultation about how best to deal with these charges, there seems to be no information available from the new Causeway Coast and Glens about the future of off-street parking charges in the area.
