Planning application for DARD headquarters approved by council

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin Assembly candidate for East Derry, Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the approval of the planning application for the new DARD headquarters at Ballykelly by Causeway Coast & Glens council this evening.

The planning application had previously been approved at committee stage.
Ms Archibald said, “It is good to have final approval of the planning application, this is an important milestone which ensures the next stages of the project can now proceed.”

“The relocation of the DARD headquarters will bring much needed employment and associated increased economic activity to the local area, both during the construction phase and once employees are in place on site. Minister Michelle O’Neill must be commended for her commitment to this project and for leading the decentralisation of an entire government department outside greater Belfast for the first time.
“The recent announcements for further development of the site by private companies give confidence to the objective of economic development of the wider North West region.” Crioch
