Police in Coleraine are concerned with youths in Ballysally and Somerset Forest illegally riding quads and motorcyles in the area. Police say that their fear is that a rider will be seriously hurt or killed or hurt/kill someone else. The public parks area around Ballysally and forest are not to be used for this type of recreational activity which should only be carried out in proper clubs under supervision.
Police are appealing to the parents/grandparents/aunts and uncles of the people involved to put a stop to it now before it is too late. If you need help please contact your local police team for assistance. Don’t wait until it is too late. All too often we are left to deal with the tragedy of a young person losing their lives because of this type of activity.
Please also be aware that any persons detected on a public place on quads or motorcycles without insurance will be reported for prosecution and the quad/motorcycle will be seized! As a parent or guardian of a young person detected you could also be liable for prosecution. Please help the police tackle this serious problem.
