A recent poll conducted on behalf of The Christian Institute has shown that that over 70% of people in Northern Ireland are against the prosecution of Ashers Bakery by The Equality Commission
The Bakery found itself at the heart of a controversy after owners refused to make a cake that promoted same-sex marriage. The owners were threatened with legal action if they did not reverse the decision and were subsequently prosecuted by the Equality Commission when they continued to refuse to make the cake.
The poll was carried out by phone around 2 weeks ago by British Polling Council member ComRes.
Just over 25% of the 1,000 people polled think the Equality Commission is right to pursue the case.
No information about the people polled has been made available.
