Sinn Féin councillor Tony McCaul has welcomed the proposed installation of a new mobile cast in Feeney to improve coverage in the area.

Cllr. McCaul said “The proposed mast will be erected by the company telefonica and will cater for vodafone customers. If this goes ahead it will improve the current 3g service and provide new 4g coverage which will be most welcomed by locals and will boost the potential for investment into the local community.”

“Myself and my Sinn Féin colleagues have held many meetings with mobile network providers in recent years as part of our efforts to keep rural areas as up to date with new technology as possible and we will continue to work with these interested parties to ensure this project goes ahead.”

Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín added “The DARD minister Michelle O’Neill invested heavily in the East Derry area over the current assembly term in many ways, Sinn Féin will continue to work for our rural communities in the new assembly term to ensure equal opportunities for those who live in them.”
