Public Meeting arranged to discuss changes for Taxi Drivers

1 Mins read

Claire Sugden MLA has arranged for a public meeting to be held to discuss the significant changes to the laws relating to Taxis and Public Hire Vehicles.

MLA Sugden said :

“The passing of the Taxis Act for Northern Ireland means significant changes if you are a taxi driver or you drive a public hire vehicle.

Currently, the changes are due to come into effect at the end of May.

I have been contacted by a number of people who are concerned at the lack of information out there about the reforms, particularly around taxi meters which must now be fitted.

I have therefore arranged an open meeting on Monday 4th April in the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine from 2pm. Representatives from the Department’s Taxi Reform Team will be present to answer questions and to respond to queries regarding the new regulations.

Everyone is welcome to attend and I encourage you to share this open invite around the industry. If you would like more details of this meeting please do not hesitate to contact my constituency office on 028 7032 7294.”
