East Derry Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has said that he is hopeful that the development work for Rossmar Special School in Limavady can begin in the new year.
Mr Ó hOisín said, “I am delighted the development of Rossmar Special School has moved to the next stage with the submission of planning permission for a new school.
“Education Minister John O’Dowd has allocated £8.3m to ensure that students attending Rossmar School have the latest facilities in order to be educated.
“The investment in the school estate is about ensuring that every school is a good school. It is important schools for students with special needs are afforded the same high standards as every other school.
“I have been talking to school principal Brian McLaughlin and he tells me that everyone is excited and delighted with the prospect of a new-build, fit-for-purpose school, which I hope we can now start building in the near future.”
