Serious interest in Foyle ferry service – ÓhOisín

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin assembly candidate for East Derry Cathal Ó hOisín has welcomed the news that interested parties are serious about operating the Magilligan to Greencastle ferry.

Mr. Ó hÓisín said “I have been informed that there are a number of seriously interested parties in operating this vital cross border transport structure and hope to be operational by this summer.”

“It will be out for tender by the end of February or early March and we are confident the service will be saved and this will be a long term investment.”

“It is crucial for the development of the region that we protect the current infrastructure including the ferry service between Magilligan and Greencastle and the wider tourist initiatives such as the Wild Atlantic Way and Causeway Coast of which this is an integral part.”

Mr. Ó hÓisín added “I have been very vocal on this issue since funding issues first arose and I have ben involved in various meetings with the relevant authorities and will continue to do so until this is resolved.”Crioch
