Sinn Féin group leader on Causeway Coast and Glens council Dermot Nicholl has announced a white line picket which will take place in Dungiven on Friday the 11th at 1pm and will be in opposition to the ongoing bombing of Syria by the British military.
“We have organised this picket to highlight the plight of innocent people across Syria and Palestine among other countries which are under bombardment.”
“These airstrikes are indiscriminate and do not differentiate between innocent civilians and those who wish to do harm. Anything which endangers innocent people cannot be allowed to happen. You would expect the British government to have learnt from past mistakes. Photos are already emerging on social media of innocent victims of all ages since British bombing commenced last Thursday night.”
“This is not the time for engaging in the politics of fear or politics of the lowest common denominator.
“The human, social and economic destruction that these attacks will cause is shattering. Whenever political leaders contemplate aggressive military action, it is incumbent upon them – indeed, upon us all – to weigh the human consequences of these decisions.”
He added “everyone is welcomed to join the protest which will take place outside the Sinn Féin office.”
LOL – the Irony. You couldn’t make it up!!
