Sports Minister pays tribute to Bann Rowing Blub stalwart

Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has paid tribute to Bobby Platt, the President of Bann Rowing Club, who has died.

The Minister said: “I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Bobby while visiting Bann Rowing Club. He was part of the warm welcome I received in Coleraine.

“His passion for the sport of rowing, and the Bann Rowing Club, were clearly evident, and he was held in very high regard by everyone at the club.

“For more than half a century he had been involved with the sport of rowing, and seen many successes at all levels during those years.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the Bann Rowing Club community at this time.”
