Two convicted of benefit fraud at Coleraine court

Two men were convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Friday (1st July) for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Joshua McCabe (24) of Radnor Street, Belfast claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £522 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £49.

Daniel Hickinson (38) of Glenlough Road, Ballymoney claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £5,021 while failing to declare employment. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £31.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
