Vote for progressive candidates who will work to deliver for all – Archibald

1 Mins read

The Assembly election on Thursday is fast approaching, Sinn Fein is standing on a track record of delivery in this constituency and across all 18 constituencies. In East Derry Sinn Féin are standing two candidates and aiming to win two seats.

Sinn Féin candidate for East Derry Dr Caoimhe Archibald said “Sinn Féin have delivered across Education, Agriculture & Rural Development, Sports & Leisure and Infrastructure in East Derry.  The relocation of the DARD headquarters to Ballykelly is a first for any government department, while the recent announcements on the A6 will begin to address regional inequalities in infrastructure.

“On Thursday voters will choose the representatives who will have legislative and policy-making responsibilities for the next 5 years. There is an opportunity to elect MLAs more representative of our society. Women have been consistently under-represented in political life and to redress this requires not only political parties to put forward women candidates but also for voters to elect us.

“We also need to have progressive views represented in our policy making, as the very conservative attitudes of some political representatives are not representative of broader society and have at times stalled progress.

“On May 5th I’m asking the people of East Derry to vote Sinn Féin as we are committed to delivering for all. Vote for candidates who truly represent you. We are aiming to elect two Sinn Féin MLAs for East Derry to boost our delivery for this constituency.”

“I would encourage voters to look for candidates that represent their values, but who will also work to eradicate racism, homophobia, sectarianism and all forms of discrimination; and who will adopt a mature and collaborative approach to working with other parties in partnership government. I would encourage voters to vote Sinn Féin number 1 & number 2 and consider transferring to progressive candidates with similar policy ideals.”
