Watton condemns burning of Dervock Band Bus

1 Mins read

Coleraine PUP Councillor Russell Watton has condemned the burning of Dervock Young Defenders’ band bus which happened during the early hours of Friday morning.

In a statement, Councillor Watton said : “The burning of the community bus used by Dervock Young Defenders must be universally condemned. This was a blatant sectarian attack designed to increase tensions following the attack on the band on the Twelfth demonstration in Ballycastle. Clumsy attempts to try to deflect the blame are as credible as Gerry Adams staying he was never in the IRA.”

“The entire PUL community knows who is behind the attack, they know who is trying to raise sectarian tensions. There is a deep seated hatred of anything to do with the Unionist/Loyalist tradition. ”

“For those who say dialogue is the only way forward, you can be assured there will be no dialogue from this Councillor. Ceasefire Republicans, dissident Republicans, Sinn Fein apologists etc are all the same. There is no negotiating with those who use a cloak of convenience when it suits them. Dialogue has delivered nothing for our community with those who are intent on destruction and division as witnessed in Dervock recently. ”

“The PUL community must come together and take a stand against this Republican conspiracy and challenge at every possible opportunity.”

“United We Stand. No Surrender.”
