Wheelie Bin fire in Aghadowey being treated as Deliberate

A  wheelie bin wa set on fire in the Agivey Road area of Aghadowey in the early hours of this morning.

The fire was spotted at approximately 4am by a passer by who was returning from work. He notified the owner of the property, Carol Kirkpatrick, while a neighbour attempted to extinguish the flames which had spread to nearby trees.

Commenting on the incident, a Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said:

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS ) received a call at 3:39am to a report of a wheelie bin on fire at the Agivey Road area of Kilrea this morning (Tuesday 26th April).

“One Fire Appliance from Coleraine Fire Station was deployed to the scene. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 3:59am and the fire is being treated as deliberate.”
