Wilson seeks to provide Play Park facilities for Children with disabilities.

1 Mins read

Ulster Unionist Councillor Darryl Wilson has urged Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to explore the possibility of including apparatus to play parks for children with disabilities.

On Tuesday at Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council  (Leisure and Development committee) Councillors discussed Landfill community funds and how these could be put to use within the new Borough.

Councillor Wilson said: “The Landfill community fund has strict guidelines which must be adhered to if Council are to avail of the funds available, these funds could exceed £300,000 over the next few years. “I raised the issue of using the funds to provide play park apparatus for children with disabilities because I feel that such apparatus is lacking across the Borough.

While I accept that it may not be possible to make changes or additions to all of the play parks at once, we certainly should look at developing a programme where we can improve on what is available within the current facilities. “Landfill community funding may be the key to improving a number of sites across the Borough, giving all children the opportunity to share and enjoy local facilities and I urge all parties to support this proposal.”
