Hunter welcomes Mae Murray Foundation to Portstewart

SDLP East Derry Assembly candidate Cara Hunter has welcomed the news that the National Trust is partnering with the Mae Murray Foundation to provide inclusive and accessible beach equipment on Portstewart Strand.

Ms Hunter said: “The Mae Murray Foundation already provides a fantastic inclusive service at Benone and it is great to see this being extended to Portstewart Strand.

“Accessible services such as parking, toilets and changing are a priority for many families here on the North Coast and right across the constituency, and it is great to see partnerships like this in action and delivering for people.

“Making sure everyone can access our beaches and beautiful coastline is so important. Following concerns raised by local residents this week regarding the boardwalks at Benone I contacted Council who have confirmed that regular inspections are taking place and plans are in place to carry out repairs and/or replacement where necessary.

“We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world and it is only right that everyone, regardless of age and ability, can enjoy our beaches and coastline.”
