12 people were detected for a range of offences connected to the possession and supply of controlled drugs

1 Mins read

In a social media statement, a police spokesperson said “Coleraine PSNI carried out a proactive drugs operation in Portrush last night targeting those involved in the possession and supply of controlled drugs in local bars and nightclubs.

Officers from Coleraine NPT, B Section and the PSNI dog unit carried out this preventative operation in an attempt to disrupt the supply of controlled and illegal drugs being used and sold within the establishments.

During the operation officers carried out stops and searches on people and vehicles and as a result of this operation 12 people were detected for a range of offences connected to the possession and supply of controlled drugs.

Inspector Donna Bowden said that “this was a collaborative operation with a number of different branches involved in an intelligence led plan to address and halt the supply of controlled drugs in our area and will be the first of many. We welcome people from everywhere to visit our area and enjoy its night spots but not to involve themselves in possessing or supplying illegal drugs”
