Images of Northern Ireland were beamed into the homes of around 150,000 people in the Netherlands recently, in five episodes of a popular travel show called 3 Op Reis Midweek, which aired on BNNVARA (Dutch public broadcaster). Filming took place here last October and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.
Viewers of 3 Op Reis Midweek saw presenter Gwen van Poorten visit Dunluce Castle, the Giant’s Causeway, Mussenden Temple and the walled city of Derry. The show also featured experiences like coasteering in Ballycastle and hovercraft flying on Lough Foyle.
“Tourism Ireland was delighted that 3 Op Reis Midweek chose to film in Northern Ireland. With an audience of approximately 150,000 viewers per episode, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the spectacular scenery of Northern Ireland and some of the many things to see and do for Dutch holidaymakers,” said Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Netherlands. “Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films in Northern Ireland and elsewhere around the island of Ireland.”
