A Coleraine Councillor has been given an assurance by the PSNI that patrols will continue in and around the Riverside Retail Park in Coleraine.
Over the weekend 11 tickets were issued for various traffic offences and nuisance offences in a PSNI operation.
DUP Councillor George Duddy says that this is an issue that as been ongoing for over two years.
“I welcome the PSNI operation, but it cannot be a one-off and I’ve been in touch with the PSNI to make sure patrols continue,” said the DUP member.
“Residents in the area have been raising concerns about groups of young people gathering in cars now for some time. Residents have had to put up with noisy exhausts and revving engines in the early hours of the morning, something that should not be happening, especially given the restrictions we have been under now due to the pandemic.
“However, I hope that the fact that tickets were issued will act as a deterant.
“I’ve been given an assurance that patrols will continue, not just in this area, but across the Borough, and I thank the PSNI for their efforts on this.” concluded Duddy.
