Alastair Seeley – My NW200 Wins

1 Mins read

Following their successful programme “The NW200 – Highlights of the 1990’s” (for sale on the NW200 web-site) the production team of Colin James & Janice Webb have started on their next project covering the 17 wins by Alastair Seeley at the NW200. This covers the period from 2004, when he first raced at the NW right up to 2016 when he finally beat Robert’s record of 15 wins. A record that had stood for 10 years.

Production has started with a series of interviews with his friends and fellow riders giving their personal thoughts on Alastair.

While there are many more to interview among the names so far recorded are Christian Elkin, Bruce Anstey, Peter Hickman, Davy Morgan, Dan Kneen, James Cowton & Lee Johnston.

Quote from the James Cowton interview “ Alastair is very good and  really pushes things to the limit- he seems to make things work and with his tally of wins he certainly makes a good job of it”

Quote from the Lee Johnston Interview “We have had our bumps & bruises at the NW but we have got over it. I have taken him off & he has taken me off but at the end of the day that racing!”

The producers have had discussions with a TV channel to have this broadcast as well as sold on DVD, but production for Television is much more expensive than for DVD. Therefore they have sought sponsors to help with the production costs. So far Danny Coyles at the ANCHOR BAR in Portstewart and Trevor Kane at the BAYVIEW HOTEL in Portballintrae have generously come aboard. Also some private individuals have made contributions. More sponsors are needed to meet these increased costs.

Colin James “If anybody can help us record this important piece of racing history we would be very grateful. As before I am not charging for my time and all profits from the programme will be divided between the NW200 Club & Alastair’s racing costs.”

The programme is planned for completion early in the New Year.
