Alleged wedding ring thief has case further adjourned

1 Mins read

A man charged with stealing a wedding and engagement ring during a pre-Christmas burglary in Limavady was further remanded in custody amid concerns from a defence barrister that progress in the case was slow.

Padraig Brolly (20), of Rosseden Drive in the town, is alleged to have struck at O’Cahan Way on December 10 last year.

As well as the rings he is accused of taking prescription medication, two music speakers, a car key and a Ford Galaxy car which he is alleged to have driven whilst unfit.
Brolly is also charged with aggravated taking and causing damage to the car.

He is also accused of being disorderly at Rosseden Drive and interfering with a vehicle at Roe Mill Gardens, Limavady.

The defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on April 1 via video link from Hydebank prison.

A prosecutor said a forensic report in connection with the case is two months away.

Further remanding the defendant in custody, District Judge Peter King told the defence barrister: “You and I both know that two months means four or six. This is starting to drag its feet”.
