Alliance calls for support package for Private Bus and Coach operators

1 Mins read

Alliance Councillor Chris McCaw has called for a joint approach from the Infrastructure and Economy Ministers to deliver a support package for Private Bus and Coach Operators, who face a challenging future without assistance.

He said: “Private bus and coach operators are a key part of our economy, but have been largely overlooked to date. Trade for them will be dramatically reduced in 2020, but loan payments and insurance bills still need to be paid and the furloughing scheme is being reduced. It is therefore essential that the government steps forward with a financial bridge to 2021.

This is particularly important for a tourist area like the North Coast, as tourism is so heavily reliant Private Bus and Coach operators.

Alliance Infrastructure spokesperson Andrew Muir MLA has also raised plight of the industry at the Assembly Infrastructure Committee, who agreed to write to both Ministers about the issue.
