The six Alliance candidates in last Thursday’s council election have thanked all those who voted for the party. Alliance received 4,058 votes across the Borough, which is by far the party’s best ever result in the area.
Alliance Councillor for Causeway, Chris McCaw, said “I would like to thank all those across Portstewart, Portrush and the Causeway area who have put their trust in me. People are totally fed up with the political situation at the moment and I am proud that so many have chosen Alliance as an alternative. I will work every day to repay the trust people have put in me and to be a progressive, non-tribal voice on Council.”
Newly elected Alliance councillor for Coleraine, Yvonne Boyle, added “I am humbled to have received the best ever Alliance vote in Coleraine. Coleraine has demanded better and I look forward to delivering better for all of the people of the town. Thank you to all who voted for me – it’s great to be back!’
Alliance candidates Peter McCully and Kevin Hayward also narrowly missed out on seats in Ballymoney and Limavady. Charlie McConaghy scored the party’s highest ever vote in the Bann area. Christine Turner, the party’s first candidate in the Benbradagh area, also scored over 300 votes.
