Ballycastle Councillor has refused an offer of Council robes for civic functions unless he can be a Jedi Warrior

1 Mins read

Ambrose Laverty, the Independent Councillor from Ballycastle has refused an offer of Council robes for civic functions unless he can be a Jedi Warrior.

In a hilarious Facebook post the Councillor said;

“I’ve been offered some robes from the Council for civic duties. I’ve told them unless I can be a Jedi Warrior I don’t want them. A light sword 😎 is essential. May the force be with you 😂”

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community this morning Councillor Laverty insisted the use of civic robes belonged in a parallel universe and the local community should not be placed under undue financial burden because of unnecessary pageantry.

“The costs associated with all forms of pageantry should be explored and collated with a view to allowing the ratepayers a say in if they thought it was financially prudent. I will politely refuse the offer from the Council”.
