Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the decision by Communities Minister Paul Givan to reverse a “disgraceful decision” to remove the Líofa bursaries.
Caoimhe Archibald said:
“The decision to cut the Líofa bursary of £50k for disadvantaged children was disgraceful.
“The rights of the Irish Language speakers need to be recognised and respected.
“The DUP has demonstrated contempt for the Irish Language and that must change.
“While I welcome Paul Givan’s decision to reverse it is a decision that should never have been taken and came as a result of public outrage.
