Armstrong Medical Boosts Funds for NI Children’s Hospice

1 Mins read

Staff from local business Armstrong Medical were delighted to hand over a cheque for £13,000 this week to Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE, was among those who attended the cheque presentation.

Employees from across the manufacturing site in Coleraine, inspired by the extraordinary work at the hospice, were keen to get involved with their ‘Jingle All the Way’ Christmas campaign.

During the months of December and January, employees organised a car boot sale, sponsored personal challenges, canteen tuck shops, raffles, Christmas jumper days and ‘Chicken Coop Bingo’ with Winifred the pet chicken.

Fiona McCann, Corporate Engagement Executive (pictured) from the hospice said, “The staff at Armstrong Medical were so enthusiastic and full of ideas right from the very start, were fantastic to work with and have done so much for us in a really short space of time – giving their time, effort, talents and enthusiasm to get behind this fundraising drive as one team. I am so proud and grateful for all their achievements.”

Staff had initially hoped to raise a few hundred pounds and were further motivated when the company pledged to double match the total amount raised, meaning that for every pound they raised, the hospice would receive three pounds.

Kathryn Smith, HR Manager at Armstrong Medical (pictured), coordinated the fundraising for the business, “Our staff have been committed to raising funds for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice since they learned of the vital service provided there. We are very proud of all everyone for their efforts and were delighted to hand over a cheque for such a substantial amount to them.”

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice provides a vital service across the province, providing end of life care and support for families, both at the children’s Hospice known as ‘Horizon House’ and in the family home. To find out how you can support their work visit www.nihospice.org
