ASB still continues at Anderson Park area

1 Mins read

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community this morning UUP Councillior William McCandless said

“It is approx a year since I was contacted about the ASB in the Anderson Park area.

Since then a Neighbourhood Watch scheme has been introduced and residents of Circular Rd. Park St. Union St. and Brook St. have been very good at keeping me informed.

The PSNI have been in weekly communication with me and are monitoring the situation, they have been very cooperative but they do need the public to contact them immediately whenever they witness ASB occurring.

We asked Councillor McCandless what sort of incidents have been happening :

The bowers in both parks have been set alight destroying wisteria which has been flowering for decades, bricks and pavia have been torn up and scattered about the park, windows have been broken in St. Patrick’s church hall.

Water balloons were thrown at a group of visually impaired cyclists on the evening of Tue. 30/5. This was probably one of their most disgraceful incidents to date. These are visually impaired cyclists who go out on tandem with a fully sighted partner, just imagine what could have happened if these cyclists had panicked.

I have appealed before and I will appeal again to parents – please be aware of where your children are and who they are with.

The PSNI have already appealed on this and they will take action against those who are destroying property and causing a nuisance.
ASB will not and can not be tolerated.”
