Ballycastle man was caught speeding in town

A Ballycastle man caught doing 52mph at the 30mph zone at the town’s Moyarget Road has been given four penalty points and fined £100.

Emmet McAteer (29), of Castle Street, was detected near the Church Road junction on October 17 last year, Coleraine Magistrates Court heard on Friday.

The defendant said he “genuinely had no excuse”.

For failing to produce his driving licence to police within seven days he was given a two year conditional discharge.
