Ballymoney celebrates Revitalise investment

1 Mins read

Ballymoney will celebrate the completion of its Revitalise project with a special event on Saturday 8th April. Parts of Linenhall Street, High Street, Church Street, Victoria Street and Charles Street have benefited from the investment of £220,000.

The project was funded by the Department for Communities and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. The money has been used to enhance the appearance of buildings and shop fronts, and aims to encourage more shoppers, visitors and potential investment.

Speaking after a visit to the town, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey said: “This funding has made a real difference to businesses and traders in Ballymoney, and I hope it gives them added optimism for the future. Our shoppers and visitors can be sure of a warm and inviting welcome in Ballymoney. There’s no better time to visit, and see what it has to offer. A lot of hard work has gone into this project, and I would like to commend everyone involved for their efforts.

Jan O’Neill, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Revitalise Project Officer said: “Most of the work in this scheme was carried out within a Conservation Area, and we have worked hard to enhance the area, while always remaining sympathetic to Ballymoney’s rich historical heritage. The town is home to a large number of independent and family-run businesses, and they have really benefited from this project. I want to thank all the traders for their co-operation during the project, and the contractors who have contributed so much to the transformation process.” The celebrations event on Saturday 8th April runs from noon until 3pm and promises fun for all the family.

Q Radio will be bringing its Big Bus radio roadshow, broadcasting live throughout the afternoon from the town centre. There’ll be lots of free entertainment including balloon modelling, face painting and giant stilt walkers. You can also enjoy live music in many of the cafes and restaurants located with the Revitalise project area.

Many of the traders are doing special promotional offers and there’ll be goodie bag giveaways. Everyone is invited to come along on the day, and join in the celebrations.
