A MAN has admitted two charges of possessing cannabis in relation to January 25 and May 2 this year.

Kurt McCrellis (23), of Raceview Drive, Ballymoney, had the cases mentioned at Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, on Monday.

On both occasions police detected a smell of cannabis from a vehicle.

On one occasion 56 grams worth “£560” was found.

A prosecutor said the defendant said he bought the drug in bulk to use himself.

The lawyer said a mobile phone was examined and there was no evidence “other than simple possession”.

Defence barrister Eoghan Devlin said there was “nothing to suggest he was involved in anything more sinister”.
The defendant was fined £250.
