Ballymoney Town Centre footpaths need major overhaul – Wilson

Ulster Unionist Cllr Darryl Wilson has called on Roads Service to carry out extensive repairs to town centre paths.

Cllr Wilson said: “Over the last number of years we have seen the condition of the footpaths in Ballymoney town centre deteriorate.

“Main Street, High Street and Church Street footpaths are riddled with loose paviers/kerbs, which have already caused several accidents where members of the public have tripped and fallen.

“I am contacted by numerous constituents on a monthly basis issuing complaints about the dangerous condition of the paths. The paths are particularly treacherous for the elderly and those with disabilities.

“Going forward we should make every effort to ensure that tourism and footfall increases in Ballymoney, therefore it is vital that basic infrastructural requirements are met to ensure that the town is welcoming and accessible to all.

“I have asked Roads Service to take immediate action to rectify the numerous defects on the paths in question.”
