Bar Windows Smashed In Act Of Mindless Vandalism

1 Mins read

The Bridge Bar in Coleraine has been the victim of vandalism during the early hours of this morning ( Thursday 31st January 2019 ).

Front windows of the building have been smashed as well as paint thrown up against the door.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community Councillor William McCandless said : “Paint splattered on walls and the front door, windows smashed, this is the scene which greets the proprietor of the Bridge Bar at Waterside Coleraine this morning.

Following the knifepoint robbery at the Bushmills Rd. filling station these are exactly the incidents which we don’t want to promote Coleraine, they instil fear in the community and the perpetrators need to be apprehended.

I hope that whoever did this can be caught on CCTV, however as I have repeatedly said – people want the security of seeing the officer on the beat patrolling our streets.

I would appeal to anyone who has any knowledge of this to report it to the PSNI.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police in Coleraine are investigating the report of criminal damage to licenced premises at Waterside Street on Thursday January 31.

“It is believed that paint was thrown on the outside of the bar and a number of windows smashed sometime between 4am and 5am on Thursday morning.

“Officers would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact them in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference number 144 31/01/19.
