Darryl Wilson has a successful outdoor catering business, one based in Ballymoney offering hot food from a mobile unit, catering for customers from surrounding commercial units and local residents and another which is a mobile gourmet crepe business which travels around the various markets and festivals as part of the Naturally North Coast Market group.
His modified horsebox is elegantly designed and attracts lots of attention which is often hired for private events.
Sadly both businesses are on hold, which is devastating for any business owner, particularly when there are continuing fixed costs.
Darryl who is a UUP Councillor at the Causeway Coast and Glens Council quickly reassessed his options.
He welcomed the additional time to help get clear information to the many concerned members of the public and has continued to support and signpost as and when information becomes available to him. He also identified a niche product which has a strong North Coast connection.
Boar Back Barrels is a range of handcrafted outdoor furniture and accessories crafted from Bushmills Whiskey Casks.
One of Darryl’s passions is woodwork, he served his time as a joiner and has managed to turn what had now become an occasional DIY project to an impressively full order book.
The range of bespoke products are growing and Darryl is enjoying this creative time and is, like many small business owners, keeping a close eye on the emerging situation in relation to the slow lifting of the lockdown.
Darryl will be joining the Bushmills Business Association on Friday 12 June 2020 at 7pm for the Virtual Bushmills Banquet via Causeway Community Facebook Page and his range of products can be found on his Facebook page Boar Back Barrels.
