As we all get into the festive spirit, an East Londonderry MLA is urging shoppers to donate just one item to help others in need this Christmas time.

DUP representative Maurice Bradley visited Tesco in Coleraine on Friday to help launch their food collection in conjunction with The Trussell Trust and FareShare.

All the food donated in the Coleraine store will help people in need in the Coleraine area.
“This is the tenth year of the collection and I was delighted to support this event,” explained MLA Maurice Bradley.
“It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the busy Christmas period that we forget about those in need.

“Something as simple as an extra tin in your shopping basket can make a big difference to families in need in the Coleraine area.

“Recent statistics from The Trussell Trust show that between April and September 2017, 13,851 three-day emergency food supplies were given out in Northern Ireland, of these 5,534 were provided for children, this just shows the extent of the need in Northern Ireland.

“I would encourage constituents to support the appeal in any way that they can,” said the MLA.
