A MAN accused of a burglary was allegedly “rugby tackled” as he ran from the scene, Coleraine Magistrates Court has been told.
Brandon Steele (20), with an address listed as East Road near Limavady, is charged in relation to April 10 this year.
The defendant is accused of entering a dwelling at Edenmore Road in Limavady and stealing purses, tins and money.
He is also charged with burglary with intent to steal at another address at Edenmore Road on the same date.
He is further accused of going equipped for burglary with cable ties.
The defendant is also charged with assaulting two people on April 10.
A defence lawyer said he understood the alleged facts are that the defendant was “apprehended at the scene” after running from a property before being “rugby tackled”.
At court on October 19 the case was adjourned to November 16 to fix a date for a preliminary enquiry – the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court.
