A member of the public tracked a suspect following a burglary when £50 cash, a store card and an electoral card were stolen and when police then swooped on an address a number of people were present and goods were recovered.
One of those present was Jason Fleming, whose age was not listed on court papers, of Castle Place, Coleraine. He pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods at Ardbann Avenue, Kilrea, on February 21, 2017.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday July 9, defence solicitor Garrett Greene said the defendant had no involvement in the actual burglary.
The incident happened at a time when Fleming had a “somewhat chaotic lifestyle”.
Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers told the defendant: “I do see you are trying to turn your life around”.
The defendant was given a six months jail term, suspended for a year.
