Call for people to usr their vote on Thursday – Sinn Féin Westminster general election candidate for East Derry Dermot Nicholl

1 Mins read

Sinn Féin Westminster general election candidate for East Derry Dermot Nicholl has called on those opposed to Brexit and Tory Cuts to use their vote on Thursday.

Cllr. Nicholl said “This election was called by Theresa May in pursuit of her and the Right Wing of her party’s Brexit agenda. The tories have no interest in Ireland or East Derry which has been made apparent by them running a token candidate here who lives in England and has spent more time canvassing there than in Limavady or Coleraine where she actually wants people to vote for her.”

“Their right wing austerity agenda has already left our education and health services at breaking point, the DUP and Gregory Campbell would only give support to this agenda.”

“This election is about more than Brexit however. Earlier this year Martin McGuinness called time on DUP arrogance and disrespect. In the election that followed your vote helped demolish the Unionist majority and gave Sinn Féin their highest ever number of votes here in East Derry.

“The DUP continue to deny rights to various sections of our community and they continue to reject equality. This is not acceptable.”

He added “By voting for Sinn Féin you are sending a strong message. A message to the Tories that people here remain opposed to Brexit and a message to the DUP that the RHI scandal has not been resolved and the only way the politcal institutions can be restored is on the basis of Equality and Respect.”
