Cannabis user was ‘self-medicating’

A solicitor for a Ballycastle man caught with 18 grammes of cannabis said the defendant was “self-medicating” to deal with a medical condition.

Sean Laverty (27), of Mayo Drive, Ballycastle, was not present at Coleraine Magistrates Court on May 13 where he was fined £200.

A guilty plea had previously been entered to a charge of possessing cannabis in relation to January 27 this year.
