Emergency services were called to the above scene this morning when a car plunged onto rocks at the town’s Crescent.
A spokesperson for The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said ‘ We received a 999 call at 10:07 on Tuesday 5 March 2019 following reports a single vehicle RTC at the Crescent in Portstewart. Early indications were that a car had left the road with a single occupant and had come to rest on the rocks.
NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and an Emergency Crew to the scene.
Following assessment at the scene, the patient declined ambulance transport to the Emergency Department.’
A spokesperson for NIFRS said: “Firefighters attended an incident involving a car on the rocks. A woman was assisted from the car by Ambulance personnel. She was uninjured. Firefighters stabilised the vehicle.’
Coastguard and the RNLI were also tasked but stood down a short time later.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “A woman in her 30’s has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol in breath, and is currently in custody. There are no further details.”
