1 Mins read

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are set it introduce seasonal car parking charges in tourist areas.

At a council meeting last night a vote was taken on adding seasonal car parking charges to car parks across the Borough including Ballintoy Harbour, Ballycastle Marina, part of Portballintrae Beach Road, Portrush Dunluce Avenue, Portrush landsdowne, Portrush East strand, Portrush West Strand and Portstewart Convention.

21 members voted for the charges, 11 voted against, 1 member abstained.

Charges to be introduced later this year, more details will follow.

In a statement Alderman Norman Hillis said “I am really disappointed that Causeway Coast and Glens BC agreed tonight to start seasonal charging in council car parks in Portstewart, Portrush, part of Portballintrae, Ballintoy and Ballycastle on a 11 to 22 vote. Personally I think this will prove to be a really big mistake. But doubtless time will tell.”
