Business, enterprise and development were the key themes during a recent Invest Northern Ireland event hosted by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
The regional economic development agency held a board meeting in Cloonavin on Wednesday (October 25th), along with a lunch time reception attended by businesses and stakeholders from the area.
Speaking afterwards, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said: “It’s an exciting time for the Causeway Coast and Glens, and we were delighted to welcome Invest NI to Coleraine to highlight recent successes alongside future opportunities.
“We continue to strengthen our position as a must-see tourism destination, with Lonely Planet travel experts choosing the area as the Best Region to visit alongside Belfast for 2018. This is a fantastic endorsement for the area which can truly claim to offer a full visitor experience. Buoyed by a hugely memorable Irish Open held in Portstewart in July, we are eagerly awaiting the return of the Open golf tournament to Portrush in 2019 which will showcase the region around the world.”
“The launch of our ground breaking Enterprise Campus, and the arrival of our anchor tenant 5Nines, heralds a crucial first step towards diversifying the local economy and paves the way for future international investment.
“Growing confidence in the Borough’s future is also evident through our Planning Office. It remains one of the busiest across Northern Ireland, indicating future growth, development and regeneration.”
The reception was followed by a visit to the Enterprise Campus. Located close to the Council offices, it represents a significant and unique economic development opportunity for the Causeway Coast.
