Sinn Féin councillor Brenda Chivers has called for the installation of additional streetlights in Drumsurn.
Cllr. Chivers said “We have been trying to get additional lights installed from the 30mph sign in the village to the local chapel. This campaign has been ongoing for over 10 years now and the recent surge of anti social behaviour in the village has brought this issue to the fore again.”
“As things stand people have to walk in the pitch black to the GAA pitch, clubhouse and the chapel. This poses many risks to their safety from both vehicles and potential assaults.”
She added “I will be meeting with Transport NI on Friday to discuss this along with other issues including potholes on the Kilhoyle Road. I will also be pressing them to spend money which has recently been released wisely on rural roads.”
