Sinn Féin councillor Brenda Chivers has called for an end to the recent spate of vandalism around Limavady.
Cllr. Chivers said “In recent weeks we have seen sections of roads painted red white and blue including a bridge on the Seacoast Road and the roundabout coming into the town from the Derry direction.”
“There are a number of issues with this sort of vandalism, firstly they are putting themselves in danger as these are busy areas. Secondly it gives off entirely the wrong impression to people coming into the town especially tourists. There is also the cost of the clean up to be considered.”
“This type of activity is completely counter productive to the good work that is going on within Limavady to remove all flags and any sign of territory being marked so I would call on all elected representatives to condemn this and work to ensure it does not happen again.”
She added “Myself and party colleagues have received many complaints regarding this which is why I have reported it to Transport NI and hope to see it resolved as soon as possible.”
