Chivers condemns security alert disruption

Sinn Féin Councillor Brenda Chivers has condemned those responsible for the disruption caused by a suspicious object in the Woodland Walk area of Limavady.

Speaking from the scene Councillor Chivers said:

“A number of homes have been evacuated after a suspicious object was discovered in the Woodland Walk area of Limavady and the area was sealed off.

“This is senseless behaviour and shows little regard for the community, our key workers, emergency services and health workers and comes at a time when people are already dealing with very stressful situations.

“Those responsible for these incidents have absolutely nothing to offer our society. These actions need to end immediately.

“Roe Valley Leisure Centre has been made available for any residents who need it.

“This is the second such incident in a matter of days and is an unacceptable disruption to residents.

“I appeal for anyone with any information to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
