Civic reception recognises Trauma Teddy knitters

1 Mins read

A civic reception for local Trauma Teddy knitters has taken place in Cloonavin.

The event was attended by members of the Nimble Knitters based in Ballysally and representatives of the Dry Arch Children’s Centre. Both groups have been busy knitting handmade soft teddy bears which local PSNI officers have used to comfort children caught up in traumatic situations.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “When a child witnesses a distressing event, sometimes words of comfort are not enough and the trauma teddies can make a real difference in providing much needed reassurance. I am very thankful to these local groups who have given up their time to make these teddy bears which will make a positive difference to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
