In a social media statement this morning MLA Claire Sugden said

“I offer my sincere condolences to the McGuinness family & his friends following Martin’s passing.

As a colleague, Martin was personally very kind and generous.

I did not share his politics and do not agree with his past, but I recognise the contribution he made for the peace we now enjoy.

This past year I saw his willingness to ensure peace and a continued desire to move forward. I understand that it was important to him as deputy First Minister to nominate me, a unionist, as Justice Minister last year.

Today is a significant and difficult day for many. All are in my thoughts. God bless.”
