Speaking shortly after being elected Cllr Sandra Hunter said, “I am delighted and honoured to be re-elected once again to represent the people of the Causeway Ward.
I would like to thank all those who voted for me. I have never taken their support for granted. Thank you to everyone who made us very welcome on your doorsteps, it is much appreciated. I look forward to working for all constituents in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area over the next four years.
Thank you to Ulster Unionist Party for selecting me. It was fantastic to have support on different occasions in the Causeway Ward from the Leader Robin Swann and our European Parliamentary Candidate Danny Kennedy, both ably assisting me on the canvass trail.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who assisted me throughout the weeks of canvassing, from helping me knock many doors, driving in rural areas, to putting up and taking down posters, I am very grateful to each and everyone of you, for all you did for me.
To my running mate, Norman Hillis, thank you. We kept her even throughout, which was clear to see on polling date, which saw us both being re-elected. My thanks to your canvassing crew as well.
Last but not least, thank you to my election agent Kate Elliott, who had the tough task of keeping me right throughout the process, no easy job, especially when an election is called midst maternity ward duties on the farm! Thank you Kate.
As a party we are delighted to have returned 7 Councillors, though very disappointed to have lost William King. William has been a great ambassador for his community of Bann, reaching so many people in many different organisations. William was a very supportive party colleague to me, the Council Chamber will also miss his wealth of knowledge and experience, we were very fortunate to have had a Councillor of William’s calibre within our midst. Thank you William for being a great party colleague.”
