Coastguard respond to report of male at risk on Portrush North Pier

At 1030 approx on Monday 28th November Coleraine Coastguard was tasked to investigate a report of clothing found on the shoreline at the West Strand Portrush. Following a search of the area, it was concluded that no-one was at risk.

Almost exactly 12 hours later the Coleraine CG Team was tasked in support of the Ambulance and Police Services, who were responding to a report of a male despondent at risk on the North Pier Portrush.

The Coastguard Team stood by with water rescue equipment while PSNI Officers talked to the distressed individual. Portrush ILB and Ballycastle Coastguard were also alerted.

Fortunately the incident was resolved safely and the casualty was taken into the care of NIAS paramedics.
