Coastguard save stranded children in Portbalintrae

Two aduts and four children were rescued by the Coastguard after becoming stuff on rocks in portbalintrae on Sunday evening. Coastguard teams form Ballycastle and Coleraine arried ou the rescue while Portrush AWB and ILB sttod by on the coastline. This after two men were rescued form the Boldr field at Fairhead late last night. They were both Airlifed by Coastguard Helicopter 199 from Prestwick and taken to safety at Ballycastle Golf Club. Ballycastle coastguard were also tacked to a missing person this morning in Carnlogh. Meanwhile the were poviding safety cover at Air Waves in Portrush. PICTURE KEVIN MCAULEY/MCAULEY MULTIMEDIA

Coastguard teams from Ballycastle and Coleraine were tasked today at approximately 1640 to reports of 5 people cut off by the tide in Portballintrae.

3 children and two adults were rescued by Coastguard teams as both Portrush inshore and all weather lifeboats watched on to provide safety cover if needed. The casualties were all rescued safely with no injuries and headed home safely.

The operation was coordinated by CGOC Belfast Coastguard.
