Coleraine Coastguard teams were tasked to an incident shortly after 2pm this afternoon to reports of swimmers in difficulty at Portstewart Strand.
A spokesperson for Coleraine Coastguard said ;
“We were tasked to Portstewart Strand where 3 swimmers had got into difficulty. Both response vehicles were quickly on scene and the swimmers were located safely ashore.
“The three teenagers had been carried out by the undertow and were shocked by their ordeal. Thankfully, they did not require ambulance assistance.
“Following this incident, we would repeat our advice to exercise caution when swimming in the sea and, where possible, to remain within the area patrolled by lifeguards.”
